That pause is to remind you to take it slow when that new bike shows up under your tree. Take some time to acquaint yourself with your bike. Get to know your bike. All the pieces and parts that you can touch should be touched.
Check your tires. Look for wear and look at the pressure.
Oil and gas change all the time. Brake and transmission and final drive fluids too. See where they are. Fill them. Memorize the levels.
